Why You Should Book a Weekday Session

Saturdays are often the first days to go for family sessions. I get it, Saturday is the universal “get things done” day. Sundays go next, and weekdays are not picked as often. I’m here to make a case for a weekday family photography session.

  1. I know it feels like a big commitment, but photo sessions typically last less than an hour. I am a big fan of getting things taken care of and checked off of a list, so in my mind stacking a photo session after a workday gives you more time on your weekend to do relaxing weekend stuff.

  2. You probably already got ready for work, just freshen up and go! There’s no need to change gears (which children can be sensitive to), you may already be in go mode from school and work to a quick photo shoot.

  3. There is less competition for dates with other customers.

  4. There is less competition in your photographer’s life. While sessions are important, being a mother and a friend also competes for my time, and just like you, people put important things in my calendar on Saturdays. I will always try to be available when I can, but I have much fewer obligations on weekdays which gives you more dates to choose from.

  5. There is also less competition with your social calendar, your kid’s soccer games, someone’s birthday party, etc. on a Wednesday than on a Saturday.

  6. As we get to hour change, sessions may start around 4:30. If you can accommodate that time, then your shoot will be over before 5:30 and your evening routine is hardly disrupted, which is great for little ones who may be overtired at 6:30 or 7 PM.

  7. At some popular photo locations, there can be a lot of families (especially during peak season) taking pictures, but weekdays usually have less traffic at these sites.

So there you have it. If you can make it work, a weekday photo session gives you back your weekend time and gives you more options in working with your favorite photographer!
