Quick: Do these things right before your photo session
Hey There, Photo Families!
Ready for your family photo session? We get it, getting everyone prepped for picture day can sometimes feel like herding cats. Kids might be doing their own thing, and let’s be real, sometimes our better halves aren’t exactly jumping for joy at the thought of a photo shoot. And then there’s the whole “why does everything go bananas just when we need to look picture-perfect” thing. On the day when you're all set for those perfect pics, it might feel like everything that can go wrong, does go wrong.
But hey, no sweat (except it’s Orlando and we might sweat a little bit)! I've got some super doable tips to make your photo session that much easier Let’s dive in:
1. Snack Attack:
Hunger can quickly turn into 'hangry', especially in kids. And me, actually. To avoid any mid-session meltdowns, pack a clean and easy snack for everyone to have on the way. Think of snacks that won't cause a mess or require much clean-up. This little step can make a significant difference in everyone’s mood.
2. Comfort over Cute:
While those stylish shoes might look great, if they're not comfortable, they're not worth it. This rule applies to every member of the family. Remember, discomfort shows up on camera, and we want a happy family. Comfortable shoes and clothing will help everyone move freely and enjoy the session. After all, a family photo shoot is about capturing your authentic selves, not just your outfits. Try on shoes and bras and slacks before a shoot and make sure everyone feels good. Feeling good is looking good. Most of my outdoor sessions are in Central Florida parks, which means uneven terrain at times. Plan accordingly or work with me for an urban setting like Avalon Park or Winter Park.
3. Keep Pockets Empty – Hand Over Phones and Wallets:
Lumpy pockets are a no-go. Stash your phones, keys, and wallets away. If you can’t leave them in the car, hand them over to me. I’ve got this! We’re going for smooth lines and focused faces, not the “is that a phone in your pocket or…?” look.
4. Early Birds Catch the Best Shots:
Rushing is the worst, right? Let’s skip that part. Pretend you need to be there 15 minutes earlier than you actually do. This little trick? Game-changer. You arrive cool, calm, and collected. And hey, if you’re early, we get more time to catch up and ease into the shoot. Nothing is a worse mood killer than stress, and I need you for golden hour. We are at the mercy of the sun.
So there you go! A few easy peasy lemon squeezy tips to turn your family photo session into a walk in the park. Remember, we’re capturing memories here, not just snapping pics. Let’s make it fun, let’s keep it real, and let’s create some awesome photos you’ll treasure forever. Can’t wait to see you and your lovely family, camera-ready and stress-free here in Orlando at one of our beautiful parks in the area.
