Orlando Family Photo Sessions 101
Family sessions are special.
Plain and simple, I believe that taking the time to dress up (and whatever that means to you, from matching outfits across the board to your most flattering jeans, whatever YOUR vision is) and spend time in front of a camera, having that moment in time documented for your future self, is really important. With me behind the lens, I want the experience to be fun, low stress, and memorable.
First, let's talk about what a family session entails.
We will meet at a Central-Florida-area park for an approximately 60 minute shoot at golden hour, which is the last hour of sunlight. I typically suggest we meet about 75 - 90 minutes before sunset in case we need to get set up, change a last minute diaper, or anything else to avoid feeling that crunch of losing daylight.
Some of the parks I recommend include Moss Park, Econ Sandhills Conservation Area, Dickson Azalea Park, Demetree Park, and my favorite, Lake Lousia State Park. Orlando has some beautiful places to take advantage of, with varied scenery and often water features as well.
We will take time to get shots of everyone as a group, small pairings, and individual shots. I like to find at least 2-3 different locations for variety.
As the sun goes down, you go home! I'll go back to my office and edit your pictures. You will receive your digital album of at least 40 pictures within 3 weeks. I deliver a mix of black and white and color shots.
So what do you have to do?
Send me an inquiry via my website or Instagram or go straight to my booking calendar here. If you have a preference for one of the parks listed above, please note it in your inquiry.
After you pick a date, I will reach out with my contract within 48 hours. I need your signed contract & deposit within 48 hours to hold your spot.
Once I have received your deposit and contract, I will reach out via email and offer to schedule a "details call" about a week prior to our shoot to answer any last questions you may have, confirm location and exact time (since sunset hours change over the course of the year). If you prefer a text or a Facetime, we can schedule a time to answer questions in those methods as well. I will also send a brief questionnaire about you and your family to ensure I'm fully prepped to bring the best out of everyone.
Show up for your shoot and have fun! Be a little early, be fed and hydrated, and come with a sense of humor. Bring snacks for little ones and water for the crew. We are going to have a good time.
FAQS
What if it rains?
I won't cancel until 90 minutes out. Florida weather is tricky and unpredictable, so I'm prepared to shoot until the last minute. In the event of a rainout, we will schedule a call together and pick a new date that works for everyone.
What's "immediate family?"
My sessions are designed to focus on parents (step-, guardians, bonus) and their children, and those relationships. Adding grandparents, aunts, cousins, etc. is fine! I just ask that I be notified ahead of time because those reconfigurations add time and typically up my shot count, editing duties, etc. and therefore I have an added cost for each additional family member.
What if my kid cries?
I am a mom too, I get it. We can be patient, and usually some coaxing and snuggles from parents (which are great pictures, by the way) and some playful time together (also great for pictures) remedies everything.
What props do you use?
I only bring a blanket for sitting on the ground (and you are welcome to bring one if you prefer your own). Typically my photography doesn't highlight props, but if you have something in mind, just tell me during our details call.
A final few notes:
When in doubt, reach out! I don't always like living in the gray personally, so I don't mind answering your questions! Ask me!
This is going to be fun. We might sweat, kids might cry, but I have seen that all happen and still made beautiful pictures. You just show up and smile, I got this.
